Mary H. Blanchard examination booklet and memorium, 1876-1877.

This collection consists of a booklet of Mary Blanchard's term examinations from 1876 to 1877 from Girls High School. The term examinations cover a variety of topics including: Geometry; English Literature, French, Latin and Chemistry. Also included is a booklet titled "In Memoriam." In Memoriam is a tribute to the memory of Mary Blanchard written by the Browning Society at Girls High School and read on September 10, 1877. It includes condolences to her family and a poem about her life. Browning Society committee members listed in the booklet include: Eva Prather; Jennie Fowler; Nettie Sergeant; Emily Prather; and Lizzie Norris.

Mary H. Blanchard (1862-1877) was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1862 to Martha Lane Hill and Moses C. Blanchard. Moses Blanchard was originally from Wittingham, Vermont. By 1850, Moses Blanchard was living in LaGrange, Georgia and working as a teacher. In 1852, Moses Blanchard married Martha Lane Hill. In 1860, the Blanchard family was living in Atlanta where Moses practiced law.
